Family Help Offer

2 Corinthians 9:7: "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver"

We understand that from time-to-time, family life can have its difficulties. At these times, you may need some extra help and support. To help you and your family we have a Family Help Offer.

We have lots of support available for you to access, both internally within school and with the support of Sandwell.

Family help support may be provided at any point in a child or young person’s life. The sooner the family receives the support, the sooner they are able to improve their situation and prevent the need for prolonged support.

Family Help is here to find out what is working well for families and what areas they might be worried about; it can help to build on families strengths and identify any needs where support might be needed. It is an approach that brings people together from different teams and services who work together with the whole family. The main focus is to improve outcomes for children.

Why would I need Family Help?

The type of things that Family Help can support you with include:

  • Worries about your child’s health development or behaviour
  • You might be worried about how they are doing at school
  • You might have worries about money or housing and how that is affecting you
  • Your child and family may be affected by domestic abuse, drugs, alcohol, ill health or crime

Family Help can give you the tools to solve challenges or problems you are experiencing with help from others where needed.

As adults, you may also experience times whereby you need your own personal support. We are always here to help and guide you.

The earlier you share your concerns, the easier it will be to put the right support mechanisms in place for you and your family.

At St Philip's, we work with a number of agencies to support our families, including the Family Help Assessment Team at Sandwell. Our team of internal staff are always here to support you and your children.

Mrs C Hinton - Principal, Designated Safeguarding Lead
